2025 STI Forum

BAI representatives attended the 2025 Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs (STI Forum), held at UN from 5 – 6 May 2025. Participants at the Forum – United Nations entities, governments, civil society, academia, the private sector, and technical communities – discussed innovative pathways for applying science and technology to current global development challenges. This year’s deliberations spotlighted both established and emerging technologies and emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to ensure equitable access and shared benefits for all.

Over the course of the event, participants engaged in substantive dialogues on optimizing technology to accelerate progress on sustainable development outcomes. Sessions explored how strategic partnerships, data-driven approaches, and inclusive innovation ecosystems can address gaps in infrastructure, digital literacy, and connectivity, particularly in underserved regions. The Forum also served as an important platform for showcasing pioneering initiatives at the intersection of technology and development, and for exchanging insights on risk mitigation, governance models, and ethical considerations tied to new technologies.

BAI’s engagement throughout the STI Forum highlighted its commitment to strengthening multi-sector collaboration and advancing the responsible application of digital technologies. The discussions with representatives of various diplomatic missions, as we as the private sector and university professors reaffirmed that achieving lasting development impact requires not only technical solutions, but also sustained cooperation among governments, international organizations, civil society, academic institutions, and technology innovators.
