Roadshow: Intelligent Energy Systems
The development of new technologies – particularly artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, robotics, and smart manufacturing – is fundamentally dependent on reliable and sufficient electricity supply. At the same time, electricity remains the backbone of modern economies, public services, healthcare systems, communications, and daily life. Recognizing that energy security and grid intelligence are prerequisites for sustainable development, BAI President Alexandru Cujba dedicated part of the December 2025 roadshow to leading enterprises in smart grids, intelligent power distribution, and next-generation battery manufacturing.
A key visit was conducted to Shenglong Electric, founded in 1979 and now a major provider of intelligent transmission and distribution systems, energy management solutions, and Internet-based power EPC services, operating in more than 50 countries. The delegation toured the company’s technology exhibition and smart factory facilities, including its independently developed AI-powered distribution cabinet (AI – iPanel), designed to enhance grid safety, reliability, and operational intelligence. Discussions focused on global power development trends, overseas market expansion, and the role of advanced power systems in supporting sustainable urbanization and industrial growth. Ambassador Cujba highlighted that resilient and modernized energy infrastructure is indispensable for achieving long-term development objectives, particularly in emerging economies seeking to strengthen grid stability while reducing carbon emissions.
Energy storage capacity is equally critical to stabilizing renewable energy systems and accelerating green transitions. In Hubei Province, BAI visited Cornex New Energy Co., Ltd., a high-tech enterprise specializing in energy storage batteries, EV batteries, and integrated Energy Storage Systems (ESS). The delegation toured its highly automated, AI-driven smart factory, where production lines operate with an automation rate exceeding 98 %. Cornex’s product portfolio includes lithium-ion battery cells, modules, pack systems, and large-scale containerized energy storage solutions – including 20-foot battery energy storage containers with multi-megawatt capacity. Advanced technologies such as high-temperature durability systems and pre-lithium innovations enhance cycle life and operational stability, enabling long-term compatibility with photovoltaic systems and other renewable energy sources. These solutions are particularly relevant for countries seeking to modernize grids, deploy off-grid systems, and strengthen resilience in remote or climate-vulnerable regions.
In Beijing, BAI also engaged with Guxin Energy Tech, a company specializing in high-performance batteries for specialized applications across air, land, underwater, and communications sectors. With strong R&D capabilities and focus on advanced local materials, Guxin develops batteries with enhanced capacity, durability, and reliability – crucial for sectors that require stable power supply in complex operational and environmental conditions.
From an international development perspective, these engagements underscored the central role of intelligent energy systems and advanced storage technologies in achieving SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 13 (Climate Action). Smart grids, AI-enabled distribution platforms, and long-cycle battery storage are critical enablers of renewable integration, electrification of transport, industrial modernization, and resilient infrastructure. The roadshow provided BAI with deeper insight into how integrated energy manufacturing ecosystems can support global decarbonization efforts, bridge technological divides, and contribute to sustainable economic growth in developing regions.
