BAI commends the election of the ECOSOC President

Blockchain Alliance International congratulates H.E. Mr. Munir Akram, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, on his election as the seventy-sixth President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

In outlining his priorities for ECOSOC during the United Nations’ seventy-fifth anniversary year, Ambassador Akram emphasized the importance of advancing action in three key areas: financing the response to COVID-19 and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and climate objectives; promoting sustainable infrastructure development; and supporting the application of advanced science and technology for sustained, efficient, and sustainable growth.

Blockchain Alliance International welcomes this strong focus on science, technology, and innovation. BAI’s activities are directed toward supporting international efforts to harness emerging technologies for sustainable development and to facilitate dialogue among governments, international organizations, the private sector, academia, and civil society.

The Alliance looks forward to engaging with ECOSOC and other stakeholders and to contributing to discussions on the opportunities presented by the digital revolution and the role of innovation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
