BAI Visits Hengqin, Guangdong
On 30 July 2025, Ambassador Alexandru Cujba, Executive President of Blockchain Alliance International, visited the Hengqin Tianmu Qintai Exhibition Hall and toured the “Harmony of Qin and Macau – Thematic Exhibition on the Construction of the Hengqin Guangdong – Macau Deep Cooperation Zone”. The visit provided an overview of one of China’s most dynamic regional integration initiatives and offered insight into how modern technologies are being embedded into the development of new economic zones.
Located at the southern tip of Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, directly across the water from Macau, Hengqin serves as a strategic platform for promoting the moderate diversification of Macau’s economy and strengthening integration within the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macau Greater Bay Area. Inside the exhibition hall, detailed photographs, charts, and physical models illustrated the planning, construction, governance, and service systems of the Cooperation Zone, highlighting tangible achievements in cross-border collaboration and coordinated regional development.
Particular attention was given to the integration of advanced technologies into priority sectors, including the co-built high-end Traditional Chinese Medicine technology support platform, where Guangdong and Macau are combining scientific research, digital tools, and multidisciplinary innovation to modernize traditional practices and promote their global reach. The exhibition also showcased collaboration between universities in Macau and Zhuhai, reinforcing the importance of academic exchange, applied research, and talent development in shaping a forward-looking innovation ecosystem.
During the visit, Ambassador Cujba explored opportunities for dialogue with private sector actors and innovation-driven enterprises, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. The Hengqin model – designed to create a world-class business environment and facilitate cross-border industrial cooperation – resonates with BAI’s mission to promote responsible innovation, public-private partnerships, and sustainable digital transformation across regions.
