Blockchain Alliance International took notice today of the decision of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to defer a number of meetings and high-level events initially scheduled to the spring of 2020. Accordingly, the ECOSOC Partnership Forum (3 April), Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals (12-13 May) and the Development Cooperation Forum (14-15 May) are deferred to 2021.
The rapidly evolving situation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic introduces significant changes in the work of UN; limitations on meetings within the United Nations premises are introduced with the aim at containing the spread of COVID-19 and infection of the UN staff, diplomats and visitors. BAI is adjusting its plans, accordingly, in the current situation and postpones its initial plans connected to ECOSOC events to 2021. Organization’s partners and supporters will be informed about the new arrangements as soon as additional information is available from the UN.
